4-Week Intro to Ashtanga Yoga Course - Session I

4-Week Intro to Ashtanga Yoga Course - Session I

Sun. Sep 9, 2018 - Sun. Sep 30, 2018 (4 weeks)
Every Sunday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

This 4-week workshop is designed for beginners, those with no yoga experience at all or those who have some yoga experience, but may not have much exposure to Ashtanga Yoga. You will be guided in a small, intimate setting, allowing for individual attention.
“Ashtanga” means “8-limbed method,” which includes a number of mind-body elements that we as practitioners slowly attenuate and control. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a set series with specific inhale and exhale for every movement which when coupled with attention contributes to greater health and wellbeing. You will be introduced to these dimensions, especially through an introduction to postures, breathing and concentrations practices, and deep relaxation. We will build upon your practice progressively each week, and by the end of the four weeks you will have a firm foundation on which to continue your yoga practice at Ashtanga Yoga UVA or even on your own!
