The Mindful Change Agent: Leading Change Globally with Compassion
Get inspired by a UVA alum and learn how YOU can become a leader in solving some of the most challenging global issues!
Come as you are and join us for a welcome reception (with great food of course!) at 5:00 p.m. before hearing from Gretchen Ki Steidle at 5:30 p.m. Learn about Gretchen's work in the world's most conflict ridden regions and see how Global Grassroots uses Conscious Social Change to work for social justice. Anyone can attend – there is no RSVP or registration requirement.
Gretchen is the 2nd lecturer chosen for the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center’s Beverly Cobble Rodriguez Lectureship. She attended UVA as a Jefferson Scholar and graduated in 1996 with a BA in Foreign Affairs. She earned her MBA at the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. Since founding Global Grassroots in 2004, she has led her organization in catalyzing women and girls as leaders of Conscious Social Change in their communities in Rwanda, Uganda, Liberia, Eastern Congo, and Darfur, Sudan. Join us in welcoming Gretchen back to Grounds as a part of Global Week! https://globalweekatuva.wordpress.com/
In countries where water accessibility is limited, Global Grassroots helps vulnerable women initiate social-purpose water enterprises to improve safety, health, education, and economic opportunities for women and girls. Leadership, mindfulness, and social entrepreneurship coincide in Global Grassroots' Conscious Social Change approach, giving women and girls the capacity and resources to initiate the changes they know their communities need.
