Title: “Open-Hearted Reading: Creative Process and Poetry"
Location: Rotunda Multipurpose Room

When we read contemplatively, we explore our deeply held values so that we can experience compassionate engagement with the Other—be it a text, person, situation, or idea. In this workshop, we will adopt a contemplative approach to poetry to provoke our own creative processes. We will explore how critical, creative, and contemplative processes work together to inspire ethical action.

Karolyn Kinane, Ph.D., has been a professor of English and Director of Contemplative Communities at  New Hampshire's Plymouth State University for thirteen years. She is scheduled to join the Contemplative Sciences Center (projected for January of 2019). A native New Yorker, she loves poetry, hiking, dancing, drumming, and exploration.

Please arrive early—room size will dictate class capacity. Please wear comfortable attire and bring a yoga mat or a towel to practice yoga on.

This is part of the CSC Rotunda Contemplative Practice Series. Sessions are independent, so you may attend single or multiple events. No registration is needed.
