John Alexander is the Associate Director of Pedagogical Resources for the Contemplative Sciences Center.
Since joining CSC in July 2018, John has been building resources for the Contemplative University, including curated guides, research briefs, and select bibliographies using Mandala Sources. John builds networks and active collaborations among UVA faculty who are using contemplative pedagogy in their courses, and serves as a mentor and guide to undergraduate and graduate students who support the development of these resources. John teaches one course each spring for the Contemplative Sciences Center, “Spiritual Journeys in Young Adult Fiction” which is offered in the German Department (GETR 3563).
Prior to working for CSC, John worked for SHANTI (Sciences, Humanities and Arts Network of Technological Initiatives), supporting the development of SHANTI tools that are now in use across UVA. In the ten years of work for SHANTI, John fully engaged the active collegial network he had built in almost thirty prior years of professional service at UVA.
