Introduction to Contemplation, Sound, and Music - MUSI 2559

This course provides the opportunity to offer new topics in the subject of Music (non-major level). Exploration of music and sound through experiential exercises and experience-oriented readings, with special attention to the US experimental traditions of Cage, Oliveros, and the Fluxus group. Exploration of dreams and the unconscious in relation to listening and improvisation. The course includes an introduction to meditation. The course is appropriate for students with or without musical experience or experience in meditation.
