People read for all kinds of reasons—for pleasure, to get information, to pass the time. In this session participants will explore what it means to read contemplatively. The workshop will provide an introduction to using contemplative reading as a powerful counter-practice to high-quantity and speed-based information consumption.
Participants will share their own experiences with contemplative reading and learn how contemplative reading can enhance a sense of creative agency and encourage new ways of seeing, thinking about, and compassionately engaging with the wider world.
CSC's Karolyn Kinane will facilitate this virtual discussion in partnership with the Jefferson Madison Regional Library (JMRL).
