Yoga Practice, Q&A, and Book Release 10:15am-1:00pm
Sharath Jois—teacher, practitioner, and lineage holder of Ashtanga Yoga—will be releasing a new, accessible yoga series at UVA's Contemplative Commons. Registration information to come.
From Sharath Jois:
For many years I have been wanting to develop a practice that has the benefits of Ashtanga Yoga but is accessible to all, regardless of their age or ability, something that will help everyone to remain active, calm, and focused, and can be practiced at home.
There are many athletes and former athletes who would also benefit from a practice that is not too intense and would supplement their routine with all the positive aspects of yoga, but without conflicting with their regular training in any way. In addition, there are many people suffering from stress who could greatly benefit from this practice. Covid and its impact made me see this more clearly than ever before.
I’m especially eager to reach students of all ages, which is why I’m so honored and excited to be introducing the new series at UVA. Too many of our young people are suffering from depression and other mental health issues. Including the Active Series in their daily schedule will help students keep their minds very fresh while studying, will relieve stress, and will keep them physically healthy, positive, and focused.
And so I have created this series for everyone. I will be revealing the series on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Contemplative Commons at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
