Weekly Virtual Meditation on the Lawn

*** PLEASE NOTE: There will be no Virtual Meditation on the Lawn on Monday, January 18, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  The weekly series will resume on January 25, 2021. 

REGISTRATION: If you registered for any of the previous sessions (Oct - Dec 2020) or if you are new to the series, to attend you must register for the Spring 2021 Meditation on the Lawn here.

SCHEDULE: We will hold meditations every Monday during the spring 2021 semester at 7:50am ET (except for January 18 and March 29). Check back for updates or subscribe to the CSC newsletter for updates.

Virtual Meditation on the Lawn is a virtual drop-in meditation or short guided reflection that CSC hosts along with our University partners every Monday at 7:50am ET. These brief, 7-8 minute sessions are open to the UVA community and anyone else who is interested in pausing, particularly at this very stressful and often lonely time, to cultivate mindfulness, compassion, resilience, and a sense of belonging with others so inclined. 

Each week a different instructor, practitioner, or UVA community leader guides the meditation or moment of reflection.


As the coronavirus pandemic continues to take its toll on the well-being of all members of our community, it is even more crucial that we continue to find regular moments of peace, reflection, and contemplative connection with each other. 

This series is a continuation of the student-inspired Virtual Meditation on the Lawn held this spring, an event that in turn was inspired by the 2013 in-person meditation on the lawn featuring Deepak Chopra and Arianna Huffington. CSC plans to explore additional extensions of this virtual meditation program over time, including making it daily (Monday through Friday), offering some longer meditation sessions, and offering sessions focused on specific topics and private groups.

You'll find general tips for practicing meditation. Additions or adjustments to these guidelines may apply to specific meditation practices and may be provided by individual contemplative instructors leading a particular practice.
