Hiring: Contemplative Commons Student Advisors (CCSA)
Application period has closed.
The Contemplative Sciences Center (CSC) needs your help to fill the Contemplative Commons with the vibrancy only students can create! CSC is hiring 2 students to join the Contemplative Commons Student Advisors (CCSA).
The Contemplative Commons is scheduled to open in Spring 2025. This deeply cool and innovative space has unlimited potential for student engagement. The Contemplative Commons is a 57,000+ square foot building with the largest flat floor surface on Grounds, access to the Dell Pond, hardwood floors for dancing and movement, a commercial kitchen, outstanding technology, immersive art, and so much more. Advisors will be the hosts of the Contemplative Commons, welcoming students into the space for the first time.
Contemplative Commons Student Advisors make a year-long commitment (August 20, 2024 – May 18, 2025) to develop and pilot programs that expand beyond yoga and meditation to many other contemplative practices. To achieve this, advisors work collectively to identify the interests and well-being needs of UVA students and address them through relevant and creative programming in the new building.
Student Advisors will hone skills in:
- Values-Driven Decision-Making
- Market Research
- Communication & Marketing
- Program Planning, Implementation, & Assessment
In addition, Student Advisors will develop a deep understanding of the Contemplative Sciences Center, the Contemplative Commons, and their potential to cultivate contemplative practices and promote flourishing for the UVA and Charlottesville community. Student Advisors will foster meaningful relationships among students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and friends of the CSC and the University as they deeply listen and respond to their needs.
There is a potential for part- and full-time paid internships for the summer of 2025. More details to come during the Spring semester.
