About Nora
Nora Brookfield is a graduate of Princeton University, and earned a Masters in Counseling (M.Ed) from the University of Virginia. She is a certified yoga therapist after completing a two-year yoga therapy program at Phoenix Rising, and she is a Registered Yoga Teacher (200). In addition, Nora teaches yoga at the women's prison and is certified by the Prison Yoga Project as a trauma-informed yoga teacher. After a two-year course with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, she is a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. Nora presents workshops and leads retreats for various businesses, nonprofits, and academic institutions around the country on contemplative and emotional intelligence practices. Most recently, Nora co-taught a course on Mindful Leadership and Public Policy at the Batten School, and she now teaches "Mindfulness and Leadership" and "Mindfulness for Well-Being" at UVA. Nora has been practicing yoga for almost 30 years, half of those years in the Ashtanga Yoga tradition. She has been teaching yoga in various settings for 15 years and currently is a yoga and mindfulness instructor for the entire UVA Men's and Women's Cross Country Team.
