Journal of Contemplative Studies

Overview

To support the dissemination of contemplative knowledge, the Contemplative Sciences Center publishes the Journal of Contemplative Studies (JCS). JCS is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes original research and scholarship on topics related to contemplative practices. The journal focuses on humanistic studies and transdisciplinary scholarship with a humanistic core.

Articles and reviews for JCS are published on a rolling basis. JCS also publishes several ongoing special issues, curated by guest editors, on specific topics in Contemplative Studies. Recent special issues include Psychedelics, Contemplation, and Religion; Contemplative Ecologies; Contemplation in Africana Traditions; and more.

To foster public scholarship, JCS also hosts the online magazine Contemplative Currents. Currents features interviews with leading scholars in the field, op-eds, announcements, conference summaries and recordings, and more.
