The Contemplative Sciences Center at the University of Virginia seeks an Event and Operations Assistant (job requisition ID #: R0039041). This position is responsible for providing administrative and customer support, as well as general oversight of operations at visiting speaker talks, retreats and other special events. This position will report to the Center's Events Coordinator as well as the Operations Manager as part of the assignment. The incumbent will also work with other stakeholders throughout the Contemplative Sciences Center to provide administrative support and will need to work a significant portion of their time in person at the CSC office at 102 Cresap Rd. and at event sites.
Position duties include but limited to:
Provide pre-event support by working with each event's key stakeholders to plan details of conferences, lectures and talks.
Provide real time event support by assisting in set-up, execution, and tear-down of events.
Provide post-event support with the Center's efforts to track impact using survey and other data.
Various other administrative tasks as assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $12/hour.

Must be work-study eligible.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required as is the ability to be a collaborative team player.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Some familiarity with spreadsheets.
Discretion, good judgment, personal motivation and the ability to work independently and as a team.
Flexible work schedule, including occasional nights and weekends to support after-hours events.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. as manual labor is sometimes required during event set-up and tear-down
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous experience related to event management and operations.
- Creative problem solving skills and ability to be proactive, teachable, and resourceful.
