On February 26, the Contemplative Sciences Center programming team will be hosting a peer led yoga nidra session to help introduce students to this practice and to provide a restful space for students to engage in restorative practice.
Yoga nidra, translated from Sanskrit as “yogic sleep,” is a guided meditation practice that leads you into a state of conscious deep relaxation — somewhere between waking and sleep. Practiced lying down, it systematically relaxes the body and mind while keeping awareness alive. It's known for being deeply restorative, with some practitioners claiming that even 30 minutes can feel as refreshing as several hours of sleep.
The event will take place in the Contemplative Commons, Studio 3D, from 6:30 - 7:15 PM.
