Led Primary Class to Honor Sharath Jois

Join us on Friday, November 14 for an Ashtanga Led Primary Series class to honor the late Sharath Jois, lineage holder of Ashtanga Yoga. The class is free and open to all. 

In loving memory of Sharath’s dedication to environmental conservation, participants or those who may wish to contribute in his honor are encouraged to donate to the Southern Environmental Law Center.

Draw in the Dark

Engage in art as a sensory experience! More often than not, we're our own harshest critics. When perfect becomes the goal, mediocre feels unacceptable—and art, instead of being freeing, can become frustrating. 

But what if, just for a little while, you could silence that inner critic and simply enjoy the act of creating? 

In this workshop, we’ll draw in the dark—removing the pressure of perfection and reconnecting with the pure, sensory joy of making art.

Golden Hour
This event is free and open to the public. Registration required. There are two separate sections. Golden Hour is a 60-minute, immersive live music experience created by local Charlottesville musicians Suz Slezak and David Wax (of David Wax Museum) and Lauren and Daniel Goans (of Lowland Hum).

Salon: GRIT AND GRACE
Popular notions of mindfulness and contemplation tend strongly toward “calming.” Yet “calming” only tells half the story, which can be deeply problematic when clarity and action are desired or called for. Alternatively, “grit and grace” resonates better with the professional audiences in business and healthcare that I work with. “Grit” captures focus and determination, while “grace” captures composure and compassion. In this salon, I invite reactions to this framing and seek ideas about how to support “grit and grace” with evidence-based research and wisdom traditions.
