The Contemplative Sciences Center’s CIRCL Lab at the University of Virginia seeks adults aged 18-24 with little to no meditation experience to participate in a study exploring the link between meditation and environment.

Purpose of the study: To understand how different environments affect meditation.

Study activities: This is a 4-week study, and participants will attend one session per week for four consecutive weeks at a recurring timeslot. Each session will take place at the Contemplative Commons and will last 60-75 minutes (not to exceed 90 minutes). Participants will be guided through a 24-minute meditation practice while wearing portable electroencephalography (EEG) and electrocardiography (ECG) devices, complete surveys, and may be selected to complete interviews about their experience.

Benefits: Up to $225 in compensation.

For more information, please scan the QR code below and fill out the demographic survey or contact the research manager, Adam Liddle, by email: circl@virginia.edu.
