The Class of 2028 is invited to a Run/Walk with UVA President Jim Ryan! Lace-up your sneakers on Saturday morning, August 24, for a two-mile/30-minute fun run/walk/stroll around the UVA Grounds followed by a Contemplative Sciences Center-led stretch and snacks on the lower Lawn.
Please dress for hot weather and bring water to stay hydrated along the route. Refill stations will be available at the finish line. Students must bring their IDs for check-in.
In the wake of the events that unfolded at UVA on Saturday, May 4th, we imagine many of you have experienced a wide range of reactions, emotions, and questions. Last week, the Contemplative Sciences Center staff engaged in processes and practices to help each other work with our own thoughts and feelings.
On Thursday, May 16 from Noon-1:00pm, we are offering a similar virtual practice to the wider community for contemplative pause and emotional processing. Our hope is to create a space where attendees can honor and move through their authentic experiences.
After the Run with Jim on April 30 (the last day of class!) come chill, stretch, and do some mindfulness and yoga with CAVMAN! We'll start immediately following the morning run!
Chill with Cavman: WOW! Cavman will join us for some yoga on the lawn! Watch him do down dog! Then relax on the last day of classes, chill, stretch, and engage in a mindfulness exercise with our certified instructors. Bring your own mat if you are not running. We have a limited number we will provide.
The 12th annual Tom Tom Festival is taking place in Charlottesville April 17-21, 2024. This year's theme is TOGETHER — encouraging us to gather as a community for a celebration that is about our interconnection, and our shared future.
The Contemplative Commons Student Advisors (CCSA) will be hosting yoga with Robin Lilly in the Meeting Barn at 2:00pm. It is free for all students and all levels of experience are welcome. On May 1 we will be leading a sound bathing experience. All levels of practitioners are welcome and bringing your own mat is encouraged!
In connection with invited speaker Britt Wray's talk being sponsored by the Contemplative Sciences Center and the Environmental Institute, we will be holding a contemplative nature walk at the Dell.
The University of Virginia’s McIntire Department of Music and Contemplative Sciences Center are pleased to present the Live Sonima Tour to be held on Thursday, October 23rd at 7:00pm in the Old Cabell Hall Auditorium. This event features a concert performance by Caroline Jones followed by an inspirational talk by Stedman Graham.
